I really need a day in between Saturday and Sunday

Busy, Busy Bumble Bee
Weekend

I know that our road to Rebecca will be super busy with shows, work and family life so this past weekend was no different but here is a quick look into my "weekends" off with Charlotte.

Monday through Thursday consists of Working midnight to 11am and then driving out to the barn to keep Charlotte fit. Wednesday was a much needed Dressage lesson with our encouraging Trainer Jenny Holbrook and then a group jump lesson Thursday after work. Followed by "beauty day" Friday morning, in which Charlotte received the royal spa treatment and a hair cut! We cleaned and packed the trailer to prepare for our schooling show Saturday morning.

As most of you know I am a 911 dispatcher for King county and I do love my job, all things considered. It is one of the most rewarding jobs I could have chosen to be apart of and even though there are a few difficult calls, I am blessed to be able to serve my community and help people every day..... My partner on the other hand is a Fire fighter for East Pierce Fire and Rescue going through the 15 month training program and currently in the active fire academy. #powercouple
He is one of my biggest supporters and loves Charlotte! A little secret, he is afraid of horses! Which works out in my favor, I get to hang out at the barn and have "me" time.

Alright, back to my blog ...... So Friday I rushed home after a morning full of horse grooming, to get ready for Family day at the Fire training academy in the Lakewood area. It was my turn to support him this time, and meet up with our family while we watched the fire academy show everyone what they have learnt the past few months. 3 hours in traffic later...... Finally made it with only a few minutes to spare I sat down with my family to watch the event. My younger brother is only 5 and absolutely loved the show! I am so proud of my partner, he truly is a blessing in my life and I could not be who I am right now without his love and support. It takes a special kind of person to tag along in the horse world, especially when you are taking a Clydesdale through the levels on the #roadtorebecca2018 .

After rushing off, back to the house to pack and prepare for the schooling show in the morning I was finally in bed around 11pm.

Early morning, rising at 430 am to be out at the barn, loaded and on the road by 6am for our drive to yelm, WA. On our way to the fabulous and beautiful Aspen Farms in Yelm, WA ... It was the perfect day for it, not too hot just a little bit of cloud coverage to keep the horses cool. But of course we love the no rain part!! I drove myself that morning, following behind the horse trailer due to an obligation that required my attention after our jump rounds. Charlotte and I did not compete until 130 pm so we spent the morning hand grazing, videoing other team mates, and catching up with great friends! The best part of waking up is folgers in your cup ..... just kidding haha!! The best part of the show weekends is the friendships you create along the way. The support system is incredible, I have never been in a team oriented atmosphere like the horse family!!
Charlotte was a rockstart out on the course, we were galloping around and finding all the great spots before each jump. I had the biggest smiling on my face and I fell more than prepared for our first Novice recognized event the second weekend of May down in Spokane!! The height did not seem to bother Charlotte and the course had many questions that made her and I think about the approach of each jump, including an up bank to a down back with 5 strides to a verticle. Charlotte had a blast, she loves the challenge!!

Charlotte and I were on cloud 9 while cooling down and untacking for the afternoon. She was absolutely amazing, reading every fence and working as a team. She received many cookies and lots of scratches while she ate her favorite snack of alfalfa! you can watch our video on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eugp1Qh14Og
After Charlotte was cooled down we checked in with our trainer, Jenny because she was going to take Charlotte home, back to the barn for us! The main reason I had to drive my self to the show was due to an event I was invited to later that evening. So I drove to a faithful friends house on the way to the event (so I didn't have to drive all the way home than back up to the event) to get ready!

Just a short back story of the event : about two years ago, on April 11th I had only been released from training to take 911 phone calls only, for about 1-2 weeks. I received a call from a frantic wife of her husband whom collapsed in his office. Through encouraging words I provided life saving CPR instructions over the phone, which she preformed strongly. They not only saved his life but, the Cpr preformed broke 8 ribs ! (which is a good thing) He was "revived" or his words "resurrected" and then rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery in the utmost care facility. His lovely wife was told he had about a 2% chance to live. After he woke from his coma the blessed couple wanted to meet the entire team that helped save his life, including the 911 call receiver/dispatcher. This was a great honor, normally in a life threatening situation no one remembers the calm voice on the other end of the phone. I had the great pleasure to meet them and take a picture that ended up in the city of Bothell newspaper.

Fast forward to the afternoon of the show ( Saturday) : I was invited by the couple to attend and be an honored guest at there table during the Overlake Bandage Ball fundraiser.

Friends, Family & Charlotte Fans

Support #TEAMCHARLOTTE
P.S. If you make to the end of this blog there is a clip from our very first Novice round at the beginning of the season! She has shown such talented potential from the very first day.
Charlotte is going to go far!

I really want to thank everyone that reached out to me about supporting the first Clydesdale on her road to Rebecca 3day 2018. I have had multiple friends and family asking how to support and or donate for this wonderful opportunity. After careful consideration and consulting with a few different people I have come to the conclusion on a few different ways to support us. We want to make this an experience of a life time and can not do it without the help of our friends, family and all of our new friends that we are making along the way.

Just a little background of me, I grew up in an amazing and supportive home with loving parents and a younger sister whom is my best friend. We went through our childhood with slogan "life is what you make it" , always encouraged by our family that if you want something we will make it work no matter what. The memories and life experiences are what make me the dedicated and stubborn person I am today. I truly believe, god willing, that no matter what ... Charlotte will be the very first Clydesdale to compete in this event. And I have come to the realization from the over flow of support and questions on how and where to donate that we should set up a type of go fund me account for the out pour of love and support. So ..... I have made three different ways if you are interested!!

1. T-shirt Fundraiser : The idea started as a type of "V.I.P" charlotte t-shirt for our team to wear during the times that Charlotte competed at Rebecca farms in Montana. (the main event) BUT, I thought why just our team?? This community is our team! Our friends and family are here to support each other and how cool would it be to see a sea of yellow shirts worn by Charlotte fans at the up and coming competitions along with the main event, the end goal, the dream of the year at Rebecca farms. I love sharing my experience with the world and supporting the under dog, with time and dedication you can achieve just about anything! ....... Support Charlottes Road to Rebecca and making history by becoming the very first Clydesdale at the Rebecca farms 3 day long format by purchasing a t-shirt!! Of course I am going to push for yellow shirts (they are a nice light daisy yellow) but I can order white or black as well! All you have to do it go the "support charlottes road to Rebecca" PAYPAL POOL link : Support Charlotte here      Donate $25 for a t-shirt than email me which color and size you would like at eventingclydesdale@gmail.com  .. I can hand deliver if you are in the area or at the next horse show, or I am happy to ship the shirt at no extra cost with in the USA !!

2. Donate any amount at any time : The Paypal link above is set up for any amount. If you would like a t-shirt but would like to help support Charlottes Road to Rebecca in a larger amount than the t-shirt that is extremely generous and also greatly appreciated and you are able to do that. Just simply enter the amount you would like to graciously donate toward supporting us on this amazing opportunity of a life time and then email me at eventingclydesdale@gmail.com which color and size you would like and again I am happy to hand deliver or mail the shirt. You will also be receiving a one of a kind thank you card with Charlotte's picture!

3. SHARE!! : So many of Charlotte's fans Share our stories, pictures, and pages...... This so greatly appreciated and immensely helpful! With out this I would not have the out pouring of support and questions of "where can I donate and support??" messages!! Please keep sharing about Charlotte!! Share our blog as well .... I want to show the world that if you put your mid to it, than anything is possible! I want to share our experience and the products we use along the way to help encourage everyone to set goals and go after there dreams!

*** If you made it to the end of this blog I am again so extremely over whelmed with the amount of love and support from friends and family and the horse community. The encouragement and willingness to donate in supporting our dreams. Please if you have any questions about anything please use the email above and give me a shout out! I am happy to return the email and help in any way that I can.

Where will Charlotte go to next?

Charlotte has so many exciting new things coming down the pipe .... updates to follow more closely.

First, a huge thank you to Mr. Stockings equine sport boots for making Charlotte custom front and back boots that not only protect her legs and fit over her beautiful feathers, they are so stylish also!  They worked with me in measuring the exact fit for Charlotte's large legs, but also assisted in finding the perfect colors to match! They have so many colors to choose from and sizes range from pony to ... NOW CLYDESDALE ! Handmade in Germany and recently now available in the USA Check out their website   mr-stockingsusa.com

Second update, the wonderful staff at platinum performance have been working hard with Charlotte and I and her overall health, including which supplements to feed. Our largest challenge is her picky eating. She is such a hard keeper and finding something that will help her performance and muscle recovery is the easy part, its if she will eat it is the hard part! Platinum performance has worked along side me to find something that she will eat! Update on that to follow.......

Third update and certainly last but not least .... the most popular question Where is Charlotte off to next ???
We were suppose to be in Kennewick for the annual Lodestar camp/ weekend of cross country schooling fun, but due to an unfortunate virus outbreak in our community the weekend was cancelled. Such sad news to hear that one of the horses at another barn in the area test positive for the EHV-1 virus, my heart goes out to the horse and owner going through this horrible situation. Don't worry, all our horses are happy and healthy and we are planning on going to the Aspen derby in Yelm, permitting that the virus is contained and no other horses or barns are affected.
The aspen derby will be April 21st than we are off to the very first recognized event of the season!....Spokane, WA May 11th -13th

On a much more fun update ... Charlotte swag coming soon!   Support TEAM CHARLOTTE t-shirts are on the press and will be available for purchase ... follow along to get yours soon .. limited time only❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
